Cost Controller - The Student Hotel Headquarters

The Student Hotel is a brand new accommodation concept: part classic student resident and part funky design hotel for students-at-heart. We believe in providing a fun, creative and inspiring environment where residents of all ages can live, work, play and grow. To achieve this, we rely on an awesomely fun, smart and motivated team to embrace the student spirit and bring it to life.
Our company is growing FAST with new locations popping up all over the continent (Florence! Berlin! Barcelona!). The current portfolio includes nine locations with over 3700 rooms in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Paris, Barcelona, Groningen and Eindhoven. Projects in Maastricht, Florence, Bologna and Berlin are under construction. But we're also expanding our existing spots by adding super cool elements like modern, flexible co-working spaces and meeting facilities. The focus is on creating a network that spans cultural and educational backgrounds so different people can connect, learn and collaborate. Job Description
As a Cost Controller you will play a very important role in the day to day business operation of The Student Hotel and The Commons restaurants. The finance team hub is responsible for accounting and control of all TSH locations already open, for those under construction and for all management and holding companies. Your focus is on all operational companies and will be two sided:
1) Taking control of all costs, bringing structure and insight to improve cost efficiency.
2) Make sure all relevant revenues are correctly and completely recorded in the POS systems.
The Cost Controller will be the crucial link between operations and the finance team and you will be reporting to the Financial Controller.
Your tasks as Cost ControllerProvide guidance (sometimes unsolicited) on cost awareness within the operations teams and together strive to reach company targetsStudy, analyse and report on all variances relating to costs and inventory management within hotels & restaurantsManage hotel and restaurant inventory processesImplement or/and update cost control policies and procedures and ensuring compliancePrepare monthly reports on Menu engineering, policy compliance, cost analysis, BETA-analysisReview / analyse performance with Restaurant Managers, the Group Executive chef and the Director of F&BHold weekly and monthly forecast sessions on revenue and scheduling to ensure major cost lines (payroll/ COS) are within targetsControl on menu changes, including control on cost calculations, proper price setting and maintaining the POS-systems.Review that all discounts and negative postings are properly authorisedInitiate improvement projects based on your findingsPrepare reports on an ad-hoc basis
Job Requirements
3+ years relevant working experience in the hospitality industryBachelor Degree in Business EconomicsStrong Microsoft Office skills, especially ExcelFamiliar with POS systems, like Vectron, Aloha and LightspeedExcellent spoken and written EnglishCan deal with time limitsProactive personalityConfident, able to convey passionComfortable in an ambitious and informal working environmentUnquestionable work ethic
