2 February 2005, Ford Factory Competition Mustang Race Car, S/N - FR500C, chassis number #004, matching numbers, Light Blue Metallic, LHD.
This official Ford Competition Factory turn key race car was ordered for American Racing by BELCO and delivered by Canadian agent Multimatic Motorsports Inc in Daytona February 2, 2005, USA. The Mustang took part in the 2005 American Mustang GT500 Race Car Competition, later called the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge. After it's first successful and problem free season the owner put the race car away in his garage, with the engine still sealed. It was then first used again by second owner Scott Turner from Viera, Florida. Mr Turner used the FR500C for the 2009 KONI Challenge Series in the GS class. Apart from new Hoosier Racing Tyres, new brake pads and and regular oil and fluid changes the Mustang didn't need much service.

Model information
Ford Racing Technology partnered with Multimatic Motorsports to revive the legendary racing spirit of the Ford Mustang with the creation of the Competition Mustang Race Car FR500C. For Ford enthusiasts few vehicles made better race cars than Mustangs, so Ford decided to develop a turn key Factory Race Mustang for those enthusiasts looking to take their first step into professional road racing. With its big power, low suspension, fancy striping, stick-on graphics, ultra wide racing tyres, full race roll-bar and growling racing exhaust note it was soon called The King of all Mustangs.
The FR500C Program has been a huge success and an excellent template for Ford. The car immediately won it's first 200-mile race at Daytona in 2005, which proved that Ford could build a turn-key race car that didn't cost a fortune and was able to win races. It also proved that Ford could make money with it. Anything that might be fragile was reinforced or replaced by bullet proof racing parts. The idea was that once customers bought the FR500C, costing $ 125,000, they should be able to get through a racing season with very low maintenance costs.
Race driver Scott Maxwell, class winner at the 2006 12 Hours of Sebring and a 24 Hours of Le Mans veteran, did most of the development work on the FR500C: "The fastest way to drive it is to stay really smooth, but you can really toss it around. It's forgiving. You can get away with a lot. And it's a blast to drive. The engine pulls like a mule train up to about 6800 rpm, with a refreshingly broad power band. You'll be comfortable almost immediately. It's surprising how quick you can raise your limits in the car. The roadholding is fantastic. And once the tyres finally do let go, they do it very gradually and predictable."
The FR500C won "triple crown" Grand-Am championships in 2005, 2008 & 2009. It also won the manufacturers title in the KONI Challenge Racing Series in 2005 & 2008. The model was then homologated for GT4 European Cup Competition and called FR500GT4. For the 2007 season Ford had the Mustangs homologated to compete in the FIA GT3 European Championship series, called the FR500GT3, producing 550 hp. Once Ford took a purpose built FR500C to Bonneville. The Mustang FR500C Salt Flat Racer reached 404 km/h !
The GT FR500C offered here is described as an excellent example with a rust-free and very straight accident free body. It was bought as an investment by the previous owner from Sweden six years ago. The FR500C has seen little use since that time. A new set of Hancook slicks and a new Magnaflow exhaust system were installed. The car has been fully serviced and is ready to race. The official Ford Racing Mustang Manual comes with the car, including racing history and service invoices.
This well preserved and matching numbers #004 handbuilt race car is accident free and totally original. Hard to find a better example. More information and pictures available on request. The Mustang is located in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Haarlem is closeby Schiphol airport, we will pick you up if neccessary!
